Colombia removes finance chief in shock shake-up

In a move that took top politicians by surprise, the Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos, fired his finance minister, Juan Carlos Echeverry.

Echeverry was replaced by the Energy minister, Mauricio Cárdenas.

The change was the first opt a major Cabinet reshuffle as Santos aims to kick-start his presidency.
