Colombia to miss coal output target for this year

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Colombia said it will produce less coal this year than last year due to labor strikes, rebel attacks and other problems that have gripped the sector.

Mines and Energy Minister Amylkar Acosta told reporters this year's coal output will likely be 85 million metric tons, down from 89 million tons in 2012.

The government's most recent production target for this year was 94 million tons.
