Colombia wants fiscal reform to boost investment

Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Colombia's new president, Iván Duque, has told potential foreign investors that "we are going to reduce the tax burden of the people who really create jobs in companies ranging from the smallest of businesses to major enterprises, with the aim of creating more formal employment."

This week Duque will send Congress a fiscal reform that will reflect his intention to present Colombia to the international community as an attractive place for investment.

Duque wants a 10-year tax exemption for businesses that invest in the countryside and create new jobs there.
