Concern in Nicaragua over claims of halt in shipments of oil from Venezuela

Monday, February 14, 2011

According to press reports, Venezuela ordered to stop the shipment of 28,000 barrels per day of gasoline and diesel to Nicaragua. Deputies of the Nicaraguan Parliament asked the government of President Daniel Ortega to confirm the alleged suspension, because of supposed mismanagement in Nicaragua.

The press reports claimed that alleged irregularities were found during an audit of Alba Petróleos de Nicaragua (Albanisa), the company that imports oil from Venezuela.
