Conservative Duque wins first-round victory in Colombia election

Right-wing candidate Iván Duque of Centro Democrático has secured top spot in Colombia’s 2018 presidential elections with 39.1 percent of the vote.

Leftist candidate Gustavo Petro comes in second place with 25.1 percent. The run-off is scheduled for June 17.
