Consortium offers new solution to Panama Canal

The Spanish-led consortium GUPC has proposed a new solution to the Panama Canal Authority to solve the current conflict which has stalled the Canal expansion project.

The proposal, sent to a Spanish regulator, takes into account the Authority's concerns and offers sufficient funds to finish the third set of locks, according to GUPC.

"An agreement is the only solution that will allow for immediate continuity of the work to the benefit of the Canal Authority and Panama," the consortium said.
