Constitutional Court appeal could stall opening of cellular market in Costa Rica

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

The road to open mobile telecommunications in Costa Rica could be closed off due to an appeal before the Constitutional Court filed last August 2010. The filing was made by trade union representatives of the state Costa Rican Electricity Institute and opposition legislators.

A specialist in the field, Juan Manuel Campos, believes that the appeal could have the potential to impact on mobile concessions that are in the process of being approved.
