Costa Rica aims for $16 billion 'dry canal' to bridge oceans

Freight charges for business would fall drastically within five years, say backers of a land bridge, or dry canal, to link Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast with the Pacific.
The cost of $16 billion would include the construction of highways, three airports, industrial parks and free zones, according to the promoters of the project, Cansec.
