Costa Rica aims to modernize ports despite the union

Monday, January 24, 2011

The Costa Rican government said that it will continue with its plans to modernize the country’s Caribbean ports, with or without the support of the Japdeva union.

The election of Ronaldo Blear as leader of the union is seen as a barrier to privatization of the ports.

But the government of Laura Chinchilla will move forward with plans to modernize and privatize the docks despite resistance from the union.
