Costa Rica annuls Industrias Infinito concession
Thursday, November 25, 2010

A Costa Rican court canceled a concession allowing the affiliate of a Canadian mining company to build a contested open-pit gold mine.
Industrias Infinito's project had once been considered a national priority, but environmentalists argued it violated environmental laws and encroached on the protected habitat of the great green macaw. A three-judge panel in the capital ruled that Industrias Infinito's concession was riddled with anomalies and had to be annulled.
