Costa Rica faces dilemma over recovery of disused gold mine

An orderly recovery of the Crucitas gold mine would earn Costa Rica a much-needed $300 million, assuming the presence of a contract to ensure responsible safeguards.

One option would be to lift the moratorium on the mine by developing academic rural centers. Meanwhile, the Government wants to prevent the presence of illicit prospectors but lacks the means means to prevent them, La República reports.
