Costa Rica is in world's top five environment powers, say Yale and Columbia

Costa Rica is among the world's top five environmental powers, according to the Environmental Performance Index by the universities of Yale and Columbia.

The index emphasized Costa Rica's handling of hydraulic resources and climate change issues.

Costa Rica is at the top of the list in Central America, followed by Nicaragua at 35, Panama at 39, Honduras at 71, El Salvador at 75 and Guatemala at 76 on the global list.
