Costa Rica is the least corrupt

In 40th position out of 168 nations, Costa Rica is the Central American country with the lowest level of corruption, says Transparency International in its 2015 report (Spanish only).

Costa Rica climbed seven positions compared to the previous year.

El Salvador and Panama were tied at 72.

Nicaragua is the region’s most corrupt country, with a global rank of 130.

Denmark placed first overall, while Somalia is last (numbers in brackets indicate the position of each country in the worldwide list).
