Costa Rica is world's leading exporter of pineapples with 2011 increase in sales

Costa Rica this year maintained its position as the world's leading exporter of fresh pineapple, with an 8 percent increase and sales of $743 million.
In addition, pineapple concentrates and juices made in Costa Rica have a value of $82 million a year.
Pineapple is a key product for Costa Tica, toppling coffee and other tropical fruits from their perches.
