Costa Rica lacks comprehensive policy on electronic waste management. Almost no collection of used gadgets

Monday, September 5, 2011

Waste from discarded electronics is generated in abundance in Costa Rica but it is unusual to have a proper process of disposal collection and management.

The waste comes from cellular phones, computers, monitors, television screens and the like, that even at times end up in the ditches along sides of the road in even in the rivers.

The director of National Cleaning Day 2011, Geovana Longhi, said that at present only some isolated efforts have been developed.
