Costa Rica leads in bank customers

Costa Rica is the second country with most availability of banking services and customers, second only to Brazil, according to the Costa Rican Bank Association based on data from the World Bank.
About 50 percent of the country's population over 15 years old has a bank account.
Having more bank customers helps tackle money laundering as there is a record of transactions and fiscal traceability, said Gerardo Corrales, director of the Costa Rican association.
