Costa Rica leads in tax simplicity

Costa Rica leads Latin America in the Financial Complexity Index 2017, prepared by TMF Group.
In 56th position among 94 countries, Costa Rica is 38 places below the leader in the ranking, which awards the most points for the fewest obstacles in complying with the tax-filing system.
Most of Central America is in the bottom half of the ranking, while Honduras in 23rd place is the most complex country in the region.
Globally, Cayman Islands is the easiest country for tax compliance, while Turkey is the hardest (numbers in brackets indicate the global position of each nation in the index).
