Costa Rica leads Internet access

Costa Rica is first in Central America in home Internet access, and first in Latin America in growth of overall access, according to the 2016 ranking of broadband status, published by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
In terms of home internet, Costa Rica leads with 60% access, compared to 24% in 2010.
Costa Rica is followed by Panama at 50%, while Nicaragua at 13% is last in Central America.
As far as overall access is concerned, Costa Rica between 2010 and 2015 grew by 440%, of which mobile connections represented 90%.
The ranking, based on data from the International Telecommunications Union, includes mobile access, home access and broadband coverage, among other indicators (numbers refer to homes with internet access, expressed as a percentage of total households).
