Costa Rica leads perception of criminal justice

Ranked 24th among 113 countries, Costa Rica leads Central America in the perception of criminal justice, according to the Rule of Law Index of the World Justice Project.

Two places behind Uruguay, the Latin American leader, Costa Rica moved up one spot from the previous ranking.

Honduras in 103rd place is last in the isthmus.

Globally Denmark is the leader, while Venezuela is last.

The study evaluates absence of corruption, fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement and civil justice among other criteria (numbers in brackets indicate overall position of each country).
