Costa Rica notches up record in tourism arrivals

Costa Rica received a record number of tourists last year, according to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute.

Last year, some 2.34 million tourists visited Costa Rica, a 7 percent increase compared to 2011.

Most tourists were from North America, with the United States in first place. Canada and Mexico increased their number of tourists to Costa Rica by 27 percent, compared to 2011.
