Costa Rica: open skies bring Canadians

Monday, August 22, 2011

\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Costa Rica’a tourism sector can expect more business from western Canada, following the approval last week of an open skies treaty between the two countries.\ \ Tourism in Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast areas will likely be the main beneficiary, especially if local operators – together with the national tourism institute – can effectively promote the area to potential customers.\ \ A major effect of the treaty will be the opening of new, direct routes for WestJet Airlines (site, stock value, background) between cities such as Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, on one hand, and Liberia. Currently, people in western Canada must connect in Toronto, or through one of various cities in the United States, in order to travel to Costa Rica.\ \ Opportunities\ \ Hotels\ Tour operators\ \ \ \ \
