Costa Rica plan to raise free-zone taxes

Costa Rican free zones ought to be paying property taxes due to municipalities, according to a ruling by the Finance ministry.

Legislator Luis Fernando Chacón, who is working to impose the tax, said he wants clarification on why it is not being paid. The tax would be imposed on 0.26 percent of the value of the property concerned, La República reports in English.
