Costa Rica: plugged in

At 99%, Costa Rica has the best electrical coverage in Central America, and one of the best in the world, trailing only Qatar and Malaysia, where everyone has access to electricity, according to the annual report of the World Energy Policy Network, published last week.

Nicaragua is in last place in the region with 78%, one percentage point above the average for developing nations.

Last in a list of 103 countries is South Sudan, where only 1% of the population has electrical power (figures indicate the percentage electrical coverage of the population of each Central American country).
