Costa Rica reaches historic inequality

Costa Rica reached last year its highest level of economic inequality in the past 30 years, according to a study by the country's Council of Rectors.

Last year, 10 percent of the country's poorest homes saw their income drop 3.7 percent.

Fifty percent of the country's poorest homes account for 19 percent of Costa Rica's total income, while 50 percent of the country's total income is distributed amongst 20 percent of the richest homes.
