Costa Rica’s AyA to promote new model for concessions of water projects

Costa Rica's water and sewerage utility AyA is looking to promote a concessions model to encourage the development of water and sanitation initiatives, project manager Francisco Valverde said.

 

"Costa Rica does not have experience with water concessions. However, the option is open for firms to develop projects under this model,"  

 

Valverde said. AyA has had difficulties carrying out some water projects due to the time it takes to design them. A concessions model would help remove this obstacle, according to Valverde.
