Costa Rica's banana producers are reticient about prospects for growth in 2012

Costa Rica's banana sector reported a 3 percent increase last year on the value of its exports compared with 2010, but it is less enthusiastic about prospects for 2012.

By the end of 2011, banana producers recorded sales of $768 million, up from $744 million in 2010.

Costa Rica is currently the world's leading banana producer.
