Costa Rica’s Chinchilla promotes vision of nationwide network of rail goods traffic

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Costa Rica’s president, Laura Chinchilla, aims to create a railroad train running from the Atlantic to the Pacific, transporting both passengers and goods.

Unlike recent rail projects that have given priority to passenger traffic in the San José metropolitan area, Chinchilla wants a nationwide network that will speed the movement of exports and imports.

The train, she believes, will help to inter-connect the north and south of the country.
