Costa Rica’s doctors go on strike in the state sector. Emergency services will be maintained but no appointments

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Costa Rica’s National Medical Union announced an indefinite general strike by doctors at all state hospitals and clinics, beginning today.

The action is to leverage the situation between health authorities and anesthesiologists who have been on strike at state hospitals for the last 12 days.

Doctors say they will provide emergency services only. Patients with scheduled appointments will not be attended.
