Costa Rica’s government pays off Social Security System debt. Last $32 million payment of total $167 million that was owed

As of Tuesday, the Costa Rican government’s debt to the Social Security System has been paid off. The National Treasurer’s Office of the Finance Ministry handed over $32 million of the system’s internal debt.
This was the last payment made by the government to pay the $167 million owed to the system.
“We reaffirmed our interest to overcome the financial difficulties that the system is facing,” said Finance Minister Fernando Herrero.
