Costa Rica’s government pays out $40 million a year in office rentals

The Costa Rican government spends more than $40 million a year in rentals for buildings, vacant lots and stores.
All of the ministries, including the President’s Office, have to pay for rentals within what are very tight budgets.
The ministries that spend more on rentals are Finance and Education. Each of them faces an annual bill of some $14 million.
