Costa Rica's ICE aims to launch high-speed 4G cellular standard by end of year

Monday, January 30, 2012

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) plans to introduce a new cellular wireless standard in Costa Rica by the end of this year.

The fourth generation, or 4G standard, allows users to send and receive data at much higher speeds than the current network.

ICE is considering four companies for the project. They are the Swedish company Ericsson, Chin's Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent of France.
