Wednesday, May 11, 2011

The Costa Rican government sent on Tuesday a bill that intends to broaden the participation of private companies in electrical power generation and avoid power cuts, rationing and blackouts.

Private generation allowed by law is to go from 15 percent of the country's total electricity to 25 percent.

According to the minister, the amendment so that private companies can generate clean energy could in the medium term generate about 300 megawatts.
