Costa Rica to host top contest in adventure sports

Costa Rica will for the first time be host of the 2013 Adventure Racing World Championship.

Costa Rica beat competition from other candidates, including the United States, because of the country's nature, tourism infrastructure and sustainable approach.

International Business Times voted Costa Rica as one of the top 10 adventure tourism destinations in the world. Last year, 72 percent of tourists did some kind of adventure sports including canopy tours, kayaking, rafting and surfing.
