Costa Rica to put no limit on size of tax break for hybrid automobiles

A proposal to reform Costa Rica’s traffic laws is provoking debate.

The plan seeks to abolish sales tax on imported hybrid cars, of whatever the capacity of their engine.

Currently, hybrid cars are free of tax when their engine capacity is 2,000 cubic centimeters or less.
