Costa Rican fruit sales fall sharply

Costa Rica’s exports of bananas and pineapples saw sharp falls in value during the first eight months of the year.

From January through August, banana exports fell by 17 percent year-on-year while pineapple exports fell by 8 percent, according to Procomer. Across the whole agricultural sector, the returns generated dropped by 9 percent over the eight-month period, declining from $2 billion to $1.86 billion, Fresh Fruit Portal reports.
