Costa Rican hotel occupancy rates relatively low

Thursday, February 28, 2013

The main vacation period in Costa Rica, between December and January, showed low income for hotels in the country.

A survey by the tourism chamber of 152 hosting companies across the country found that 40 percent deemed hotel occupancy during that period as “normal,” while 30 percent considered it “poor,” 12 percent said it was “good,” and only 7.3 percent said it was “very good.”

The research also found that most Costa Ricans who traveled during this period opted for one- and two-star hotels.
