Costa Rican insurers drive double-digit growth

The Costa Rican insurance industry, the largest in Central America, reported last year a 16.1 percent increase in income from premiums to $1.18 billion, boosted by a hefty surge in life insurance premiums amid a generalized expansion.
The data from insurance regulator Sugese show life insurance premiums produced the largest single-segment increase.
