Costa Rican leader begins to improve popularity

Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla is starting to show signs of recovery in her popularity, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

Two months ago, she appointed Carlos Roverssi as head of communications, after his predecessor was involved in a scandal over a private plane allegedly borrowed from a drug trafficker.

Among the measures Roverssi has taken to improve Chinchilla's image are eliminating confidentiality clauses in services commissioned by the President, as well as using national polls rather than international consulting agencies.
