Costa Rican leader's popularity plunges

Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla's approval ratings have plummeted since the start of a border spat with Nicaragua, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

The country is at the bottom of the list of a Government confidence index published by Gallup.

Chinchilla scored 1.5 out of 10 on the index, compared with Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega and Panama's Ricardo Martinelli, both the highest scoring with 4.3.
