Costa Rican oil refinery to turn green

Recope, the Costa Rican state-owned oil refiner, is to be given a new look by moving into the business for renewable energy in transportation, according to a government plan that involves new legislation.

Meanwhile, Recope can implement environmentally friendly measures that are already permitted under existing measures.

The new legislation will allow Recope to take part in public-private alliances for the generation of renewable energy that would be used for transport.

The proposal is to be presented to Congress next month.
