Costa Rican phone service enters the Internet age

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Customers of companies in Costa Rica that operate Internet protocol telephony will be able from Monday to receive and send calls with users of fixed lines and cellphones.

At present customers of Internet phone services can only call each other, unless they place calls by computer, as in Skype. Now the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) has changed everything thanks to an interconnection agreement with private networks.

Now the ICE will open its platform to Internet calls.
