Costa Rican tourism beats estimates by growth of 9.3 percent this year

The number of foreign tourists who visit Costa Rica will have increased this year by 9.4 percent, and will be down by only 0.4 per cent of the record set in 2008.

The increase in the number of tourists this year amounts to 161,000 from last year and 8,000 less than in 2008.

The 2010 result is remarkable in international terms. The World Tourism Organization had forecast a maximum of 6 percent for this year.
