Costa Rican Tourism Board under fire from firms

The Costa Rican Association to Protect Tourism, Protur, held a forum in the Legislative Assembly to discuss the state of the tourism industry with lawmakers and members of the small and medium-sized tourism sector.

The forum featured presentations on topics including exchange rates, sport-fishing and the Costa Rican Tourism Board’s recent “Costa Rica’s Million Dollar Gift of Happiness” advertising campaign.

Among other comments, Protur members and tourism industry representatives in attendance called for the creation of a commission to evaluate and investigate the Costa Rican Tourism Board'a alleged lack of attention to the small-business tourism sector.
