Costa Rican truckers block Panama border

Monday, August 26, 2013

Costa Rican truckers maintained a roadblock Sunday at the Paso Canoa border crossing to protest the policies of Panama border control agency Senafront.

Spokesman Juan Carlos Segura said truckers have been unfairly targeted by Panama officials for minor offenses such as lack of safety signs and tires that are not up to standard.

According to Segura, the truckers also have to travel to David to pay the fines, which is about 30 kilometers from the border, but the trucks can't enter the country until the fines are paid, he said.
