Costa Ricans celebrate anniversary of cellphone market

A year after Costa Rica opened its telecommunications market, Costa Ricans are enthusiastic about competition between the companies, local newspaper La República revealed in a poll.

State-owned Kölbi has maintained its leading position in the cellular phone market, with an 80 percent share.

Rival companies Movistar and Claro have started to step up the competition however, expecting to grow and expand their coverage.
