Crime hits regional integration. Siepac electricity project to connect nations delayed by robbery in El Salvador of $3 million

\ The project to inter-connect the electricity systems of Central America, Siepac, is one of the most important projects for regional integration. But it has been hit by one of the worst regional problems: crime.\ \ the inter-connection line, which can transmit 300 megawatts of power among the nations of the region would be almost ready for completion were it not for the theft of 30 kilometers of cable.\ \ The cable was stolen in El Salvador, where the army is investigating the incident.
