Debt seen affecting incoming Panama President

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

The excessive debt acquired by Panama's former leader Ricardo Martinelli will affect the incoming government's cash flow, said Felipe Chapman, financial analyst at Indesa.

"The next administration will have to be very careful and responsible with its handling of debt and public finances," Chapman said.

Panama's public debt stood at $17.4 billion in May this year.
