Defeated Mexican candidate challenges election

The leftwing candidate in Sunday's presidential election in Mexico has challenged the outcome. Andrés Manuel López Obrador claims there was no level playing field in the contest, which was won by the PRI candidate, Enrique Peña Nieto.

The PRI far exceeded all the limits established by the rules on spending, he alleged, and media coverage was biased.

Unlike the street protests he launched over his defeat in 2006, Lopez Obrador appears to aim to resolve his complaints through the electoral courts.
