Del Monte seals deal with Panama to invest $100 milion in bananas

Del Monte agreed with the government of Panama on an investment of at least $100 million to reactivate abandoned banana plantations in Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro, ver close to the border with Costa Rica.
The company will enjoy a lease of at least 20 years. Since 1990, the land has been abandoned but at that time it was rated as one of the region’s most profitable for the crop.
