Development banks lend $140 million for El Salvador

Friday, November 5, 2010

The government of El Salvador signed $140 million in credits from development banks for the Casa para Todos affordable housing program.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration and the Inter-American Development Bank contributed $70 million each.

The houses that are to be built form part of the 5,900 that President Muaricio Funes promised to build in the first 18 months of his administration.

The program was delayed because private banks failed to come up with enough credits for the construction industry.
